PMRDFS - Prime Ministers Rural Development Fellows Scheme 2011

Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India has announced notification for Prime Minister's Rural Development Fellows Scheme (PMRDFS) for the year 2011-12. The scheme is introduced this year only to provide an opportunity for young people to contribute to the welfare and development of the people in rural and tribal areas of the country. Selection and training process of PMRDFS has been designed in such as way that the candidates will be oriented towards development facilitation work at the village, block and district level. Eligibility and Qualifications: Applicants age must be between 25-30 years. They should have Post Graduation in Social Science / Science/ Management. Candidates with Graduation in Law/ Engineering/ Medicine are also eligible to apply. Candidates with knowledge of Hindi and a local language used in an IAP district along with any work experience are preferable.

Selection Procedure: Selection of the candidates for PMRDFS will be through an open advertisement process. Candidates will be short listed based on the details they provide in the application form. They need to furnish details such as performance in academic and extra-curricular activities, social work and relevant fields. They also need to provide three recommendations, one out of which should be from an academic institution. Final selection will be based on written synopsis, group discussions and interviews.

Interested candidates can fill the application form and submit it online. Number of positions are 180. All the vacancies are available in the IAP districts. The recruitment will be done in two phases with final selection of 90 candidates in each phase. IAP districts are located in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
