AP Job Calendar 2026 - Total 10000 posts

The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a major recruitment drive, with plans to release a comprehensive Job Calendar on the occasion of Ugadi this year. The Finance Department has completed its groundwork, with a preliminary decision to notify 10,060 vacancies across various government departments to be filled over the next three years, in a phased and priority-based manner.

A special high-level meeting chaired at the Secretariat on March 13 brought together heads of all departments to finalise the framework. The initiative signals the state government's intent to institutionalise a practice of releasing a job calendar every year at Ugadi, giving job aspirants a clear and structured roadmap for upcoming recruitment cycles.

Tentative Breakdown of Posts

The following is the department-wise distribution being considered under the Job Calendar:

Department / Category Number of Posts
School Education & Intermediate combined 3,000
University Assistant Professors 1,500
Sub-Inspectors (SI) & Constables combined 3,000
Assistant Engineers (AEs) 500
Welfare Hostel Wardens 200
Forest Department 100
Statistics Officers 200
Group-1 Services 100
Group-2 Services 500
Total ~10,100

What to Expect Next

The final decision on the exact number of vacancies per department is expected to be confirmed after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviews and approves the proposals. The CM's office will determine the precise allocation, and the official Job Calendar notification is likely to be released on Ugadi day.

Why This Matters

This is a significant move for thousands of job seekers in Andhra Pradesh. Some highlights of what makes this announcement noteworthy:

Education Sector Boost: The combined 3,000 posts in school education and intermediate education, along with 1,500 assistant professor positions in universities, address long-standing vacancies that have impacted the quality of public education in the state.

Police Recruitment: The 3,000 posts for Sub-Inspectors and Constables come amid growing concerns about understaffing in law enforcement. Separately, Telangana's police department has also identified nearly 18,000 vacancies, indicating a region-wide push to strengthen security forces.

Engineering & Technical Roles: 500 Assistant Engineer posts signal investment in infrastructure and public works departments.

Social Welfare: Filling 200 Warden posts in welfare hostels will directly benefit students from marginalised communities who rely on government-run residential facilities.

Group Services: 600 posts across Group-1 and Group-2 categories open opportunities in administrative and mid-level government services, which are among the most competitive and sought-after roles in the state.

Background

The state government has been working to clear a large backlog of unfilled positions across departments. Periodic retirements, coupled with delays in recruitment in recent years, have led to significant staffing shortages. The Job Calendar initiative, if executed systematically, is intended to bring transparency and predictability to government hiring — giving candidates sufficient time to prepare for upcoming exams.

Aspirants are advised to keep a close watch on APPSC (Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission) notifications, which will formally announce individual recruitments in line with the Job Calendar.
